Dr Costas Karabatsas MD, DMed(Bristol), MRCOphth, FEBO, FRCS(Ed)Ophth is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology with the Department of Biomedical Sciences (Optics & Optometry), University of Western Attica (UNIWA), Athens, Greece. He is also a practicing Consultant Eye Surgeon, specializing in cornea, refractive and glaucoma surgery. He gained his Ophthalmology training and his clinical corneal fellowship in the UK, at the Department of Ophthalmology, Bristol Eye Hospital, where he has also served as a Clinical Lecturer. He was awarded a Doctorate title (Doctor of Medicine, DMed Higher Degree) from the University of Bristol, for his thesis on management of post-keratoplasty astigmatism with the use of computerized topography. He subsequently completed a refractive surgery-LASIK mini Fellowship with the University of Crete, Greece. He has served (1999-2007) as Ass. Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology, Larissa University Hospital, Greece, and Head of the Anterior Segment Surgery, Cornea Transplant and Glaucoma Unit. In addition to his clinical role, he is active in research and teaching activities. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed scientific papers, chapters and books. Her doctoral dissertation involved the study of apoptotic proteins in retinal cell death in Glaucoma and Retinitis Pigmentosa disease models. Currently, her research is focused on screening of drugs, small molecules, and natural compounds to discover promising candidates for treatment of age-related macular degeneration.

Henry Perry, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who is recognized as one of the leading corneal and refractive surgeons in the United States. He is also internationally renowned and lectures throughout the world. He is a nationally recognized expert in diseases and surgery of the cornea and corneal pathology. He has also written over 200 peer-reviewed papers and numerous chapters on corneal and refractive surgery. He is the winner of the Senior Honor Award and Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr Ahmed Darwish is an Egyptian ophthalmologist who graduated from Ain Shams University in Cairo . He took his MBBch cerificate on November 1984 with excellent with highest honor degree . He began his residency in the ophthalmology department at Ain Shams University on 4/1986 and took his Master degree on 1989. In November 1993 he took his MD degree and on March 1994 he took the position of lecturer of ophthalmology at Ain Shams university . On 1999 he was upgraded to assistant professor and on 2004 to professor of ophthalmology and is still in this position up till now. As regards his academic work in the university he is involved in research work, teaching for undergraduates and postgraduates , clinical training for younger staff , supervision for MSc & MD thesis, examining undergraduates and postgraduates both at Ain Shams University and as an external examiner in Suez Canal & Alazhar universities . Also he is involved as an instructor in scientific university days and conferences of Egyptian Ophthalmology Society. In the past few years he is as well a vitreoretinal surgery consultant in Dhahran Eye Specialist Hospital in KSA Clinically, he shared as a founder or cofounder of vitreoretinal surgical units in several university and private hospitals and ophthalmology centers in Egypt & recently in Saudia Arabia.
