Dr. Alessia Cavaliere

Biography

Dr. Alessia Cavaliere was born in 1983. She received her PhD in Agricultural Economics (Doctoral Schools in Innovation technology for agro-food and environmental sciences) at the University of Milan in 2010. At present she is Assistant professor in Agriculture and Food Economics at the Department of Environmental Science and Policy of the University of Milan. She accomplished several teaching activities and has been the supervisor of several students for their theses. At present, she teaches at the University of Milan several classes, namely, ‘Food Economics and European Legislation’, ‘Food Economics and Policy’, and ‘Economics and Innovation in the Food Industry’ for the Master degree in ‘Human Nutrition and Food Science’ and Master degree in ‘Food Science and Technology’. During the PhD she has been visiting researcher at the ‘Centre de recerca en economia i desenvolupament agroalimentari’ CREDA UPC-IRTA of Barcelona (Spain). She presented several works at national and international congresses and she participated as researcher to numerous national and international research projects, among which: Long Life, High Sustainability - Shelf Life Extension as tool of sustainability; CAPINFOOD - Improving the enabling environment and public awareness for innovation in the South-East-European food sector through transnational collaborative’; TRUEFOOD - Traditional United Europe Food’; MOSE4AGROFOOD - Mobile Services for Agro Food’. She has been selected as referee for many international journals and took part to the Local Organizing Committee of the 29th International Conference of Agricultural Economists ‘Agriculture in an Interconnected World’, held in Milan in August 2015

Dr. Alessia Cavaliere main research interests and fields of specialization are related to the study of consumer behavior, the economic aspects of obesity, and information-based food policy.
