Dr. Mohd Tariq received his Bachelor’s degree in Zoology (H) from Delhi University, Delhi, Master’s degree in Biotechnology from Graphic Era University, Dehradun and Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology from Kumaun University, Nainital in collaboration with G.B Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment and Sustainable Development (GBPNIHESD), Almora. He has completed his master’s dissertation work from Department of Environmental Physiology & Biochemistry and Biotechnological Applications (EPB & BTA) and Ph.D. research work from G.B Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment and Sustainable Development (GBPNIHESD), Almora under the supervision of Dr. S.K Nandi (Scientist-G, Group Head, EPB & BTA). He has working experience of almost 5 years on various medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) of Indian Himalayan Region, where he worked on various techniques of in vitro propagation, optimization, Habitat Distribution Modelling (also called Ecological Niche Modelling) for MAPs. He has analysed active ingredients and antioxidant activity of high value, endemic, medicinal and wild edible plants of Himalayan region and optimized extraction and harvesting conditions/procedure. In addition, also worked on genetic diversity analysis of these high value, endemic, medicinal plants of the region. With considerable experience on phytochemical and biochemical analysis using modern analytical tools such as HPLC, Gas chromatography, various molecular techniques, he also has in-depth knowledge of sample collection, experiment design, data interpretation, report writing etc. He has also published several research papers in high impact and peer reviewed, national and international journals.
