Dr. Prem Prashant Chaudhary, after completing his PhD from India in 2012, He Joined Dr. Rulik’s group at Palacký University in Czech Republicto carry out his first postdoctoral training in the area of molecular diversity of methanogens habitating freshwater sediments in collaboration with Max Plank Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology, Germany. After this assignment Prem went to join Dr. Brugere’s group at University of Auvergne in France as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where he was a part of a team who cultured the second pure isolate of methanogen i.e. Methanomethylophilus alvus belonging to the newly discovered order of methanogen i.e.Methanomassillicoccales from human GIT. After finishing this assignment, he went to join as Research Fellow with Dr. Schmidt’s group at Department of Internal Medicine at University of Michigan and worked on different aspects of human gut microbiome with a focus of increasing butyrate production after resistant starch supplementation in human subjects. Also he studied, how the presence of methanogens affects the metabolism in the human gut. Dr. Prem has an extensive experience in implementing molecular biology and anaerobic microbiology techniques to study gut microbiome. Dr. Prem’s current work at Nanyang Technological University,Singapore involves studying various aspects of human gut microbiome and altering the human microbiome for the improvement of human health. In his free time, Prem enjoys travelling to new places and spending time with his family.
