Dr. Thomas G. Wiedemann, MD, PhD, DDS, is currently a Clinical Associate Professor, full-time faculty member and Assistant Director for Advanced Programs in Oral Surgery for International Dentists / Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland at New York University, College of Dentistry, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Wiedemann´s career consists of more than 26 years of surgical and educational experience in an academic setting and successfully operating private practices, providing the full spectrum of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Implant Dentistry. In addition, he offers 14 years of professional experience as Senior Consultant in Health Care Management and as Expert Witness. In addition, the title of a Fellow of the European Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery (EBOMFS) and Diplomate of the International congress of oral implantologists (ICOI) has been conferred upon him. Dr. Wiedemann has lectured extensively and conducted hands-on courses on oral surgery topics, implant and bone graft procedures.
His special research interests are: minimal invasive surgical techniques of the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, medical and dental emergency care, ceramic implants, titanium intolerance, peri-implantitis and implant failures, surgical complications management in implant dentistry and oral surgery. He has acquired extensive expertise in implant surgery with multiple implant systems (titanium and zirconia) since 1995 and is well versed in innovative concepts of bone and soft tissue regeneration (intra- and extraoral autogenous bone grafts, alveolar ridge augmentation, maxillary sinus graft surgery, bone and tissue regeneration), CBCT-, robotic-guided and piezo-surgery.
